Biography

YB Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin is a veteran leader and a driving force behind the modernization of Sarawak’s infrastructure and public transit system. Since 2019, he has served as the state's Minister for Transport under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) administration, where he oversees monumental shifts in regional connectivity, including the pioneering Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) and the introduction of the zero-emission Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) vehicles.

A proud Sarawakian, Dato Sri Lee’s public service career spans over three decades. He was first elected to the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) for the Senadin constituency in 1996—a seat he has passionately represented ever since. Throughout his career, he has held pivotal roles in the ministries of Infrastructure Development, Communications, Sports, and Tourism, Art and Culture, consistently bridging the gap between state-level strategy and community needs.

Beyond his political and infrastructural achievements, Dato Sri Lee is a massive champion for education and human capital development. He serves as the long-time Chairman of the Management Board for Curtin University Malaysia in Miri, actively steering the institution toward cutting-edge research in digital technology, green energy, and AI-driven healthcare.

He holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) from the University of Science, Malaysia (USM) and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters from Curtin University, Western Australia, in recognition of his deep commitment to education and regional progress.
