Biography
Maria Kumang Ningkan is a Unit Manager at Prudential and a co-founder of the Aspire Group Malaysia, a leading team of financial planners. Born in Kuching, she holds a degree in Microbiology from UKM, but her entrepreneurial spirit led her into the financial services sector in 2013.
After an early career setback in a different business model, Maria pivoted to insurance, where she spent the last 13 years challenging the stigma associated with the industry. In March 2021, amidst the pandemic, she co-founded the Aspire Group, which has since grown into one of the largest Bumiputera agencies in Malaysia, spanning across Kuching, Miri, and Kelantan.
Maria is known for her positive leadership and commitment to professionalizing the insurance industry, particularly within the Sarawakian community. She believes in leading by example, operating with a mindset of gratitude, and focusing on heart-led service to change lives and create long-term financial security for families.
